Making Bottlecaps in PSP9

This tutorial assumes some basic knowledge of PSP and some exposure to version 9. You can download an evaluation copy from here.

  1. Create a new image in PSP 9 - 300 x 300 with a vector background.
  2. Set the Foreground/Stroke colour to #cbcbcb
  3. Set the Background/Fill colour to #888888
  4. Select the Symmetric Shape Tool from the Toolbar, with these settings:
  5. Starting in the upper left hand corner, click and drag to draw the bottlecap shape; it should look like this:
  6. Add an Inner Bevel with these settings:

    Your bottlecap should look like this:
  7. I love this neat effect in PSP9 (not sure if it was in 8 as well, didn't do much playing with that version), Effects > Artistic Effects > Chrome, with these settings:
  8. Colorize your bottlecap:
  9. If you prefer the steel grey look, you can easily add a circle with a fill colour of white to custom decorate.
